2004
In Review
2004 was definitely a
good year for Eta Eta. The year started with Fall Recruitment on September 20. Several women were interested in joining Tri Sigma, however, seven women were extended
bids. Sisterhood events were HUGE during the fall semester. From watching movies together to going out for dinner, Eta Eta had a blast!
During the week of October 11, Tri Sigma participated in Homecoming events. Congratulations
to Allison Lazarus, our new Miss. Lynn, and Senior in Eta Eta. We also placed
in the golf cart parade and won a prize of $20. We ended the semester will the
Holiday Gala which we co sponsored with KOR. The Gala was held at the Premier
Level at Muvico on Airport Road on December 3. Tickets sold out and everyone
danced the night away!
Sigma in the Community
The Eta Eta chapter gave back to the community by holding two events last
semester.
The first event was “Coins Make Change,” a fundraiser for
the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. On October 11, two weeks before
the walk, Tri Sigma held a coin drive and raised $350, all of which was donated by Lynn University students, faculty, and
staff. On October 30, the day of the walk, the sisters took the money and donated
it to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research and education. Thank you to all who participated!
The second event that
was held was a cell phone drive. Lynn University students, faculty, and staff
donated cell phones. All the cell phones donated went to Women in Distress. Even though the cell phone service is disconnected, calls can still be made to 9-1-1. A ton of cell phones were donated and not only do we appreciate it but so do women
everywhere.
The Eta Eta chapter at Lynn University would like to thank everyone who supported us
in both of the fundraisers. We could not have had two extremely successful fundraisers
that truly helped a lot of people if it were not for you!
